  MAIN SPEAKER & WORKSHOP SPEAKER:
Pastor Dan Hyun, Lead Church Planter, The Village Church (Baltimore, MD)

Pastor Dan was raised in the greater Philadelphia area, receiving his degree in speech communication from Penn State University and with the intention of pursuing a career in law. Through many personal challenges, Dan began to comprehend the radical nature of God's love and grace for the first time and sensing that God wanted to use his life to share this same gospel with others, he felt a call in his heart to serve the Lord in fulltime ministry. He received his Masters in Divinity from Biblical Theological Seminary and has served with churches in the Philadelphia and Baltimore metro areas for the past decade. He is currently planting a new church in Baltimore, The Village, specifically focused on sharing the Gospel with this emerging generation.

Some of his interests include sports, watching movies, dissecting pop culture and connecting to others through authentic conversation. After God, his greatest passion in life is for his wife, Judie. They are eagerly expecting their first child at the end of this summer.

  MAIN SPEAKER & WORKSHOP SPEAKER:
Rev. Dr. Ken Fong, Senior Pastor, Evergreen Baptist Church (Los Angeles, CA)

Born and raised in Sacramento, Ken is a native Californian, a third generation American of Chinese ancestry. Ken had made a decision to follow Christ while still in junior high school. In 1977, he enrolled at the American Baptist Seminary of the West, commuting back to Sacramento on the weekends to continue ministering to the youth.

The following year he transferred to Fuller Seminary in Pasadena, CA, completing his M.Div. in December of 1980. His relocating not only introduced him to his future wife, but his future church and his special mission. He completed his internship at Evergreen Baptist Church of Los Angeles, then a long dormant English-speaking Japanese American ministry that was reviving under the leadership of their new pastor, Cory Ishida. Ken was called to be their first associate in January, 1981, an affirmation that the Lord was broadening the church’s audience to include Chinese Americans.

Under the guidance of these two pastors, Evergreen went from being a mono-Asian church of less than eighty worshippers to an English-only Japanese/Chinese American congregation of over 1,200. Ken enrolled in Fuller's doctor of ministry program in 1984, graduating with his D.Min. in December of 1990. In 2006, he became an adjunct at the Haggard School of Theology (Azusa Pacific University).

In March 1997 the church initiated a friendly ‘split’ with Ken as the new senior pastor of the one known as Evergreen-LA, with the vision to foster a fresh model of a church for the next century, one that will be both multi-Asian, multi-ethnic, and multigenerational, one that offers Christ’s real hope to real people.

He is frequently asked to speak and consult in a broad cross-section of settings. In December 2000 he served as the main Bible expositor for InterVarsity’s Urbana 2000 Student Missions Conference. He has spoken at places like Moody Bible Institute (Chicago), Westmont College, Azusa Pacific University, Promise Keepers, the National Youth Workers’ Convention and Pastors’ Conference to name a few.

His wife Sharon (better known as “Snoopy”) is a vice-president of the Private Bank of Union Bank of California in Beverly Hills. Their daughter Janessa was born on April 3, 1999 and they live together in Sierra Madre, CA. He enjoys playing golf in his spare time.

Wei-Tih & Esther Cheng

Wei-Tih was born in China and grew up in Taiwan. He was saved while in graduate school in the States. His life was changed dramatically after his conversion. Having become a Christian, his initial desire and ambition of becoming wealthy was taken over by enjoying serving the Lord.

Esther was brought up in a Christian home in Taiwan. Although her faith was challenged while in college, she remained steadfast in the Lord largely due to her personal experience of God’s provisions in difficult times.

Professionally, Wei-Tih’s expertise was in information technology management. He was Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Aetna Inc. Esther had worked as a librarian and information specialist in various industries. In 2001, Wei-Tih and Esther took early retirement together so they could have more time serving the Lord.

Throughout their married life, they served together at Bible study groups, local churches and various conferences. They have been traveling to China to minister to brothers and sisters there. Besides ministries, Wei-Tih currently serves as a member of the Board of Governors of the American Red Cross.

Wei-Tih and Esther have two grownup sons. Their older son works on Wall Street and their younger son lives in Seattle with his wife and their two sons.

The workshops they lead will focus on three topics: Christian Marriage, Bringing Up Godly Children, and Interpersonal Relations-Communications.
